The following criteria is used to qualify clients for reduced cost for spay and neuter.
Receipt of
SSA, SSD, or SSI
Unemployment Compensation
Qualifying low-income figures
(HUD guidelines) on Federal Income Tax Return
APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Initial phone call to SNAP to determine status of low-income status and obtain general information about your pets. (575-524-9265).
2. Applicant shows proof of low income, (documents listed above).
3. Makes co-payment to SNAP. (Cats, $25.00. Dogs, $35.00)
4. SNAP issues spay/neuter voucher.
5. Individual makes appointment with designated veterinarian.
**SERVICES NOT COVERED**
Pre-surgical blood work.
Disease screens (heartworm,feline leukemia, etc)
Prescription medications or other medications not related to surgery
The participating veterinarian will be available to answer questions related to your pet's surgery and their general health. The veterinarian will perform a pre-exam to determine that your pet is in suitable health to undergo surgery. SNAP will assist your with any urgently needed (as determined by the veterinarian) follow-up care related directly to the surgery. Any other requests for services are the sole responsibility of the client.
